LBC Charges to Cincinnati
MBA Team

Lancaster, PA- The men’s baseball team is going to the NCCAA National Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio thanks to their stellar performance in today’s East Region Tournament.

                  

The Chargers started the day with a 7-3 win over the fourth seeded Philadelphia Biblical University in the semifinal, and then finished the day with a 14-3 rout of Baptist Bible College in the championship game.

 

Ben Markey was on the top of his game against PBU allowing seven hits and only three runs along with a season high 12 strikeouts. Lancaster scored two runs early to take the lead 2-0 after two. The Crimson Eagles answered with three runs of their own to go up 3-2. It was all Chargers after that scoring a run in both the third and fourth to take a 4-3 lead and added three insurance runs in the sixth for the 7-3 final.

 

At the plate, the Chargers were lead by Lou Curcio (Hatfield, PA), 2-2 with an RBI, and Zach Kraehmer (Newburgh, NY), 2-2 with two runs scored.

 

In the championship game, the Chargers fell behind 3-2 after the Defenders half of the second inning. This time Lancaster stormed back plating five runs in the second to retake the lead, and kept pouring it on scoring four more in the fourth and three in the fifth.

 

Kraehmer continued to swing the bat well hitting two for two, with two walks, and four runs scored. Steve Jacques (Norristown, PA) got in on the action with three hits and his first career homerun.

 

On the mound, Curcio was in control once again allowing three runs on eight hits with no bases-on-balls and eight K’s.

 

The Chargers are in action again when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the National Tournament starting May 13th.
