The Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of
Ben Bewley to the position of Head Men's Volleyball Coach.
Bewley, who played for four years at LBC, takes over for Wally Kappeler.
"I am excited," Bewley said. "I am hoping to bring consistency and stability to the program."
Even though he has played with some of the current players, Bewley isn't concerned about his age or inexperience as a head coach.
"I think playing alongside of them and being a leader on the team will help me and give me a level of respect already," Bewley said. "I was successful in the way that I played the game and am excited to lead a team from a coaching standpoint."
Along with taking the men's volleyball head coaching position, Bewley will also be in charge of Intramurals on campus. He is looking forward to putting his degree in sports management to use.
"I wanted to do something related to my major and this is great starting point for me," Bewley said. "I think intramurals can be a significant part of this campus."
Bewley is interested in reaching out to students who didn't come to college for athletics.
"Everyone needs something to get away and hopefully intramurals will provide that outlet for students," Bewley said.
He also looking forward to seeing some athletes try different sports.
"Watching athletes who star in one sport try out another sport is always entertaining," Bewley said.
The men's volleyball team kicks off its season on January 19, 2010, when they travel to Philadelphia Biblical University at 7:00 p.m.
