Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Roberts Wesleyan Too Much for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible women's soccer season ended on Saturday as NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan defeated the Chargers, 4-0 in the NCCAA Division I East Region Semifinals at Charger Field. The Redhawks, dominated play for much of the day and they move on to face Houghton in the NCCAA East Region Final next Saturday in Houghton, N.Y.

Lancaster Bible hung with the Redhawks early and got a shot in the arm just 7:12 into the contest when junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Scheuing made a save on Bella Mitrevski's penalty kick attempt after the Chargers had committed a foul in the box.

Roberts Wesleyan (10-9) finally got on the board at 24:57 as Heaven Palamitia broke free on a breakaway, put the ball around a charging Scheuing and tapped the ball into an empty net for her fourth goal of the year. The score remained 1-0 through halftime, but the Redhawks dominated possession after halftime and made it 2-0 just 4:17 into the second half as Mitrevski dribbled past a few defenders and netted her 16th goal of the year.

Ellie Swan put the game away nine minutes later as she scored off a rebound to make it 3-0. Palamitia's fifth of the season 4:06 later made it 4-0 and officially ended any chances of a comeback for Lancaster Bible.

Scheuing made six saves for the Chargers who finished the season with a 12-8 record.

The loss ends the careers of seniors Shannon McNally, Meaghan Williams, Sarah Heilenman, Monica Lambertson, Danielle Good and Olivia Rentzel. Lambertson finishes her illustrious career as the all-time leader in points for a career with 144. Her 56 goals are the second most in school history and her 32 career assists are also a program record. Lambertson's 14 game-winning goals are also a program record as she played 85 games in four seasons and started all of them.
