It's been a while since the Lancaster Bible women's basketball team lost a North Eastern Athletic Conference contest. How long? Try January 21, 2013 at SUNY Polytechnic when the Chargers lost, 88-81. Since that day, the Chargers have now won 26 straight regular season conference contests as Lancaster Bible dispatched Bryn Athyn, 58-42 on Saturday in Bryn Athyn, Pa.Â
Of those 26 wins, 21 have come by double digits, including Saturday's victory as the Chargers jumped out to a 32-21 halftime lead and never looked back. Lancaster Bible led by as many as 27 points in the second half as junior
Aubrey Folger led all scorers with 19 points.Â
Shanice Smith added 13 points and 18 rebounds, while
Katy Stover chipped in with 12 points.Â
"The girls came out determined to get our first road win today and I'm proud of them for their effort and hustle," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Rachel Steinbarger said. "Rebounding was the difference today and Shy (Smith) was great. Her ability to rebound the ball is incredible."
Lancaster Bible shot just 19-of-52 (36.5 percent) from the floor on Saturday, but converted 19-of-24 chances from the free throw line.
The Chargers (3-2, 2-0 NEAC) will play their final game of the first semester next Friday when they take on Penn St. Harrisburg in Middletown, Pa.
"The girls need to focus on their finals early in the week and then we will take a couple of days and prepare for Harrisburg," Steinbarger said.
Next Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Notes:-Just two current Lancaster Bible players,
Meaghan Williams and Folger, were on the team the last time the Chargers lost a NEAC contest.
-In the calendar year of 2014, the Chargers went 15-0 in NEAC play.
