Chargers Tame Bison

After earning a split with Wilson on Friday, the Chargers were back on field Saturday to take on the Bison of Gallaudet. Saturday was senior day as Lancaster Bible honored seniors Marissa Hardy and Kellie Wright. After scoring just 6 runs in the games against Wilson on Friday, the Chargers bats gained a little momentum against the Bison. The Chargers won game one, 7-3 and won game two, 7-1. The victories improve Lancaster Bible to 9-15 and 7-7 in conference play.

Lancaster Bible is back in action on Monday as they take on St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. Below is a recap of Saturday's games.

Game 1: Lancaster Bible 7, Gallaudet 3

Freshman Julia D'Arrigo led of the game with a single for the Chargers. The Chargers would then go on to take a 2-0 lead going into the second inning. To start off the second inning, senior Marissa Hardy led off with a single and would later score to make the score 3-0. Lancaster Bible went on to score four more runs throughout the next three innings. Gallaudet would score two runs in the top of the 7th inning before the Chargers got the last three outs to finish the game with a score of 7-3 in the Chargers favor.

Lancaster Bible was led by D'Arrigo who had three hits, while six Chargers had an RBI in the game as it was a balanced day throughout the lineup. Kelsey Collins got the win allowing four hits, while striking out six.

Game 2: Lancaster Bible 7, Gallaudet 1

Game two started nothing like the first game, as both Lancaster Bible's Emily Coffman and Gallaudet's Alyssa Barlow were engaged in a pitching duel until the fifth inning. In the fifth inning the Chargers bats came to life as they scored five runs on five hits. The inning was started with a leadoff single by Julia D'Aarrigo, who would later come in to score on a double by Courtney Koser. The highlight of the inning though might have been the two triples by Kelsey Collins and Ali Morton.

Gallaudet would then score one in the top of the 6th to cut the deficit to 5-1. Just as the Chargers had done a majority of the day, they responded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 6th on a double by Koser. The Chargers would get the last three outs in the 7th and win the game with a final score of 7-1. Coffman would go on to get the win, while Koser led the Chargers with four hits.
