Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Earn First Victory

The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball team snapped a 25-match losing streak dating back to last season on Thursday as the Chargers swept Medgar Evers, 3-0 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers won, 25-13, 25-11, 25-7. Lancaster Bible is now 1-2 this season, while the Cougars dropped to 0-1.

Lancaster Bible controlled the match from the first serve as the Chargers took leads of 9-1 and 8-2 in each of the first two sets. The Chargers' ability to get easy points via service aces proved to be the difference as Lancaster Bible had 11 aces over the three sets. Nick Eberly led the way with four aces, while Garyd Martin had three and Daniel Kreider and Kasey Gentry each had two.

Gentry led the hitting attack as he had nine of Lancaster Bible's 33 kills. The Chargers committed just seven attack errors the entire match on 58 attempts for a .448 hitting percentage, the second-best mark in program history. Joshua Rotz and Kreider each added six kills, while Sky Woelkers had four kills. Junior Timothy Meyer had a match-high 19 assists and also chipped in with four digs.

Prior to Thursday, Lancaster Bible's last victory occurred on Jan. 30, 2015 against York (N.Y.) and the home victory for the Chargers is the first since Apr. 5, 2014 against Keuka.

The Chargers were scheduled to play Marymount and Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in Hoboken, N.J., but those matches have been postponed due to the impending snow the region will receive on Saturday. No make-up date has been set.

Lancaster Bible returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 30 when the Chargers will travel to Langhorne, Pa. to face Cairn (10 a.m.) and Southern Vermont (12 p.m.).
