Lancaster Bible Blanks St. Elizabeth

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team got back into the win column on Friday as the Chargers defeated St. Elizabeth, 3-0 in Morristown, N.J. The Chargers are now 8-8 overall and 6-5 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Eagles dropped to 1-14 overall and 0-10 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Playing with just nine players, St. Elizabeth hung with the Chargers for many parts of Friday's game, but the Chargers got on the scoreboard in the 15th minute as Caleb Nelson scored his fourth goal of the season off a feed from Eric Bailey. Fifteen minutes later, senior Marco Patz scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year off a pass from fellow senior Jeff Edman.

Tony Gehman netted his first goal of the season in the 81st minute as Michael Oyenuga picked up his first assist of the season. Vann Sutphin did not have to make any saves, but earned his fifth shutout of the season.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible outshot St. Elizabeth, 18-3, including 8-0 in shots on goal...The Chargers also held the advantage in corner kicks at 16-2...The Chargers got lots of offensive contribution on Friday as Josh LaBry, Tommy Croke, Antonio Patz and Edman all recorded shots.

Information Hodge Podge: Friday marked the first-ever meeting between the two teams as this is the first season St. Elizabeth has had varsity men's soccer...Sutphin improved his record this season to 7-6...Lancaster Bible picked up its second straight road victory after starting the season, 1-6 away from Charger Field...This was the final road regular season game for the Chargers...Lancaster Bible now has a +2 goal differential this season (29-27).
