Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Upended by Wildcats

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer season came to an end on Friday evening in Indiana as the Chargers lost to Indiana Wesleyan, 6-1 in the NCCAA Div. I Midwest Semifinals. The Chargers end the season with a record of 16-7, while the Wildcats improve to 10-7-2 and will play Grace College in the region final on Saturday.

How it Happened: Indiana Wesleyan showed why it earned the region's top spot heading into the Midwest Region Tournament as the Wildcats scored four times in the first 28 minutes of the contest with two of the goals coming off corner kicks.

After over an hour-long weather delay three minutes into the second half, the Chargers got a goal back at 51:49 as junior Raegan Horst netted her 12th goal of the season. The Wildcats regained their four-goal lead less than eight minutes later when Lexis Garcia completed her hat trick and made it a 5-1 contest. Another late goal by Indiana Wesleyan produced the final score, which was the most lopsided loss for the Chargers this season.

By the Numbers: Indiana Wesleyan outshot the Chargers, 13-9 and held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks...Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Scheuing made five saves in her final collegiate game.

Information Hodge Podge: This was the first meeting between the two teams...Scheuing finished her career with 52 wins, the most in program history...Scheuing also finished with a program-leading 36 shutouts over her four seasons...Fellow senior Alyssa Wesner also played in her final collegiate game on Friday and Wesner caps her career with 113 points, the third-most in program history...Her 48 goals are also the third-most in program history and her 15 game-winning goals are the most in program history...Finally for Wesner, her 85 games played are the second-most in program history, just one behind all-time leader Christy Lorah who played 86 from 2012-15...The 24 goals allowed this season are tied for the second-fewest in program history.
