The Lancaster Bible men's volleyball season came to an end on Saturday night in upstate New York as the Chargers dropped three North Eastern Athletic Conference matches over the past two days to cap their season. The Chargers end 2016 with an overall record of 7-23 and a conference mark of 2-14.Â
D'Youville 3, Lancaster Bible 1
25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22The Chargers battled and took the second set to even the match, but Lancaster Bible couldn't capitalize on the momentum and dropped the final two sets and lost, 3-1 to D'Youville.
Kasey Gentry had a match-high 14 kills and added four blocks, while
Derek Bigley had seven kills, four aces and five digs. Freshman
Garyd Martin had 21 assists and
Caleb Strite added three blocks.
Medaille 3, Lancaster Bible 0
25-21, 25-14, 25-17The Chargers couldn't keep pace with the regular season NEAC champions as the Mavericks won in three sets. Bigley and Gentry each had six kills for the Chargers, with Bigley adding seven digs as well.
Sky Woelkers added a block and six digs as well for the Chargers.
Hilbert 3, Lancaster Bible 0
25-23, 25-19, 25-21Lancaster Bible played well in its final match of the season, but host Hilbert was up to the task in each set and defeated the Chargers in three sets. Gentry ended his impressive first season with the Chargers with 12 kills on 30 attempts with just one error. Gentry also added 14 digs, while Bigley had 13 digs and nine kills. Strite had five kills against Hilbert, while
Joshua Rotz had one of the team's three aces.
Extra! Extra!: Gentry's 296 kills this season are the second-most in program history as he finished 33 away from Alex Bahn's 329 which he had during the 2014 season...
Garyd Martin's 630 assists are the third-most in program history as he had a very good freshman campaign...Five players finished with 100+ digs, led by Gentry's 175.Â
