Historic Season Comes to an End in NEAC Playoffs for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Playoffs for the first time ever in program history and had to face off against Medialle College in Buffalo, N.Y. It was a beautiful day for a game as the Chargers looked to advance and take the next step in their bid to win the NEAC Championship, however, the Chargers ran into a tough opponent, and battled the Mavericks until the horn sounded, but ultimately fell to the Mavericks, 15-10. The loss ends Lancaster Bible's season as the Chargers finish with an 8-9 overall record, while Medaille will advance to the NEAC Semifinals on Saturday where the Mavericks will face top-seeded Cazenovia.

How it Happened: The Chargers did not look like a team that never played in the playoffs before as they raced out to score the first three goals of the game less than two minutes in. The goals were scored by Alyssa Wesner, Myranda Kemrer, and Rebekah Kelley. All of the goal scorers received passes on their way to the goal as Kemrer picked up two assists with Hannah Thompson having the other. The Mavericks would get on the board three minutes into the game, but it was not long before Thompson gave the Chargers a three goal lead again. After that goal the Mavericks would find their footing and go on to race past the Chargers scoring the games next six goals. The Chargers would get back into the game as they would score the next two goals and move into one goal of the Mavericks. The goals were scored by Thompson and Naomi Otis. The Mavericks would score another goal, before the Chargers matched them to keep the goal differential at one. However, the Mavericks would score the next two goals of the half to take a 10-7 lead into the break.

The Mavericks used their momentum that they gained from the first half to jump out ahead of the Chargers and score the first two goals of the second half. The Chargers would get the next two goals from Thompson and Kemrer to cut the lead back to three goals. The Mavericks would get the next goal, but the Chargers would cut the lead to three again when Kemrer scored with 13:27 remaining in the game. The Chargers continued to push and never gave up, but it was the Mavericks that would score the last two goals of the game. The Mavericks would go on to win by the final score of 15-10.
