Chargers Crush 'Cats, Win 5th Straight

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team won its fifth straight game on Friday as the Chargers won the battle of North Eastern Athletic Conference unbeatens with a 7-1 victory over SUNY Polytechnic. The Chargers (3-0) and Wildcats (4-0) both entered the game unbeaten in conference play, but the Chargers scored early and often and held a 4-0 lead at halftime before pouring it on in the second half. The win propels the Chargers to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in NEAC play, while the Wildcats fell to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1 in conference action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible junior Abi Brady opened the scoring just 5:53 into the game as she took a cross from the right side from Raegan Horst and re-directed the ball off the right post and into the back of the net to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Less than eight minutes later, freshman Hannah Bernstein scored her first-ever collegiate goal on a beautiful shot from outside the 18 that beat SUNY Poly goalkeeper Angela Bartlett into the top right corner.

Just over nine minutes later, fellow freshman Barb Foster scored to give the Chargers a 3-0 lead and freshman Danni DeVinney capped the first-half scoring at the 34:21 mark with her first collegiate goal off a feed from Maggie Arnold and Joy Trumbull.

Brady and Bernstein added their second goals of the game in the second half and senior Alyssa Wesner scored her third goal of the season as well before SUNY Poly got on the board thanks to NaKeya Stedman at 71:08.
