Chargers Blank Griffins

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team got back into the win column on Tuesday as the Chargers earned their second shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible is now 4-5 overall, while the Griffins fell to 5-5.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible had several early scoring chances as forwards Edward Bills and Caleb Nelson had multiple shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes. The Chargers finally broke through at 24:59 when Brendon Dooley received a pass from Nathan Recalo and deposited into the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

The score remained the same through halftime and the Chargers did a great job of protecting their lead throughout the second half. Lancaster Bible pressed for an insurance goal, but had some trouble finishing on the offensive end as they produced nine shots in the second half, but just one was on target.

Gwynedd Mercy had the ball in Lancaster Bible's end of the field plenty of times in the final 10 minutes, but mounted only one true offensive chance when Spencer Lockard stepped in front of a shot on goal and blocked it before it could go on target. Lancaster Bible closed out the game with a final defensive stop and earned its fourth victory of the year.
