The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team won its second straight game, and third in four tries, on Tuesday night in the nation's capital, defeating Gallaudet, 73-63. The Chargers are now 4-3 overall and 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference action, while the Bison fell to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
1st Quarter Highlights:
-Like the men's game prior, Lancaster Bible raced out to a 9-2 lead early in the game, and eventually led 13-2 just prior to the midway point of the first quarter
-Back-to-back layups from RuthAnn Hostetler capped the run, and Lancaster Bible eventually led 22-15 after 10 minutes of play
2nd Quarter Highlights:
-Gallaudet scored the first five points of the second quarter to trim its deficit to two, 22-20, but Lancaster Bible responded with five straight points of its own and grabbed a 27-20 lead with 5:26 left in the half
-Sophomore Kaylee Boger knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:36 remaining to give Lancaster Bible a 36-26 lead, and the Chargers eventually led 39-31 at halftime after a Caitlin Hickey 3-pointer with four seconds to play
3rd Quarter Highlights:
-The Bison started the second half on a tear, and cut the Chargers' lead to just one, 39-38 with 6:46 to play in the quarter
-Lancaster Bible held its ground and used a 12-2 run over the next 3:25 to open up a 51-40 advantage
4th Quarter Highlights:
-Gallaudet continued to stick around and trailed just 55-51 with 8:34 to play
-Hickey and senior Kirsten Webster powered the Chargers throughout the quarter, as back-to-back buckets from Webster restored the Chargers' 10-point lead, 64-54 with just over six minutes to play
-Gallaudet pulled within five, 67-62 with a little more than a minute remaining, but Webster knocked down four of her 14 free throws in the final minute to ice the game for Lancaster Bible
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible was 25-of-49 (51 percent) from the field, including 8-of-12 from 3-point range...Gallaudet shot 24-of-68 (35.3 percent) from the floor, but just 5-of-16 from beyond the arc...Webster led the Chargers with a career-high 26 points, as she was 6-of-11 from the field and 14-of-18 from the free throw line...The 14 free throws are also a career-high for Webster, and she also had six assists for the Chargers on Tuesday night...Hickey finished with 21 points and five rebounds, as she knocked down five 3-pointers...Junior Courtney Goyak had another double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds, while sophomore Kaylee Boger had three 3-pointers for nine points...Hannah Neild had 22 points to pace Gallaudet.

Katelyn Vanderhoff said. "We came out shooting the lights out, which helped us get some early momentum, and I thought we did a nice job controlling tempo of the game. Kirsten had another huge game for us and got to the bucket as well. We will look to carry this momentum to a tough non-conference opponent on Thursday in Penn St. Harrisburg."
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 13-0 against Gallaudet...Webster is averaging 19.0 points per game this season, after coming into the season with a career 8.8 points per game average...Hickey had 20 points for the second straight game...The eight 3-pointers made by Lancaster Bible are a season-high.
