For the sixth straight season, the Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team will make an appearance in the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs, as the Chargers defeated Wilson, 82-57 in Chambersburg, Pa. on Sunday to clinch a berth in the postseason. The Chargers are now 15-5 overall and 14-1 in NEAC play, while Wilson dropped to 4-17, 2-15 NEAC.Â
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible opened the game on a 10-3 run over the first 3:11 as four different players scored a bucket, including 3-pointers from freshmen
Caitlin Hickey and
Kaylee Boger. After Wilson scored to make it 10-5, the Chargers used a 15-4 run over the next 5:36 to take a 25-9 lead. Six different players scored during the first quarter as the Chargers led, 25-11 after 10 minutes of play.Â
Like Saturday though, the Chargers' offense sputtered a bit and Lancaster Bible scored just eight points in the second quarter and took just a nine-point lead, 33-24, into halftime. Junior
Kirsten Webster had four of Lancaster Bible's eight points in the second quarter and finished with a season-high 14 points.
The offense heated back up in the third quarter and Lancaster Bible used a 13-5 run over the first 3:50 to grab a 17-point lead at 46-29. Lancaster Bible continued to grow its lead midway through the quarter and led by as many as 23 after a jumper from senior
Krissy Pennell gave the Chargers a 56-33 advantage with 2:03 left.Â
Both teams scored at will in the fourth quarter as the teams combined for 43 points, but the Chargers maintained their lead and grew it to 30 on two separate occasions. Hickey's layup with 4:05 left gave Lancaster Bible a 79-49 lead and the Chargers went on to win by 25.Â
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 55.2 percent (32-of-58) from the floor, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range...Wilson shot 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field, but just 5-of-19 from beyond the arc...Hickey finished with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while sophomore
Courtney Goyak had 18 points and 18 rebounds to go with four assists...Freshman
Emily Morgan had 11 points and four rebounds...Boger added eight points and Pennell finished with seven points and five assists...Ashley Henderson had 20 points to lead Wilson.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 24-14 all-time against Wilson...Goyak's 18 rebounds give her 421 for the season and she is now holds the program record for rebounds in a season, surpassing
Shanice Smith who had 412 rebounds last season...The Chargers have 93 made 3-pointers this season and Hickey, Pennell and Boger have 90 of them.
