The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team won for the second time in 20 hours on Wednesday as the Chargers defeated John Jay, 3-0 at Horst Athletic Center, a day after defeating Alvernia, 3-1. On Wednesday, the Chargers defeated the Bloodhounds, 25-8, 25-13, 25-20 and improved to 24-7, while John Jay fell to 10-15.
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible controlled the first set and led 19-7 after a kill from freshman 
Kaleb Ansell. John Jay got one point back, but the Chargers rattled off the final six points of the set and won, 25-8.
Lancaster Bible stayed hot and won eight of the first 10 points of the second set as an ace from sophomore 
Joshua Rotz gave the Chargers an 8-2 lead. John Jay battled back and closed its deficit to 12-9, but the Chargers won five of the next six points and took a 17-10 advantage after an ace from 
Derek Bigley. For the second consecutive set, the Chargers went on a long streak to end the set as Lancaster Bible won the final seven points of the second set to earn a 25-13 victory. Junior 
Kasey Gentry had five kills during the run, while an ace from sophomore 
Garyd Martin and a kill from Ansell also occurred during the run.
The third set was tighter, though the Chargers remained in front for much of the set. The Bloodhounds led, 9-7, but two errors and kills from Bigley and Rotz gave the Chargers an 11-9 lead and they never trailed again. Kills from Rotz and Gentry sealed the victory as the Chargers won the third set, 25-20.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible led in kills, 37-16 and held a 21-13 edge in digs as well...John Jay held a 5-4 advantage in blocks, while Lancaster Bible had six aces to the Bloodhounds' one...For the match, Lancaster Bible had a 35.4 hitting percentage as the Chargers had 37 kills against 14 errors on 65 attempts...Gentry led the Chargers with 12 kills and also added five digs...Sophomore 
Daniel Kreider and Bigley each had six kills, while Kreider also had two blocks and Bigley added an ace and three digs...Freshmen

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 3-0 all-time against John Jay...The Chargers defeated the Bloodhounds, 3-0 on February 25 in Brooklyn, N.Y...Lancaster Bible is now 9-2 at Horst Athletic Center this season...The 35.4 hitting percentage is the eighth-best in program history.
