The Lancaster Bible College softball team ran into one of the North Eastern Athletic Conference's best teams on Monday as Penn St. Berks swept a doubleheader from the Chargers in Reading, Pa. The Chargers are now 6-16 overall and 2-4 in NEAC play, while the Nittany Lions improved to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Penn St. Berks 13, Lancaster Bible 1 (5 innings) -- Game 1
How it Happened: Penn St. Berks jumped on the Chargers quickly in game one as the Nittany Lions scored seven runs in the first inning and six more runs in the second. In addition to the 13 runs, the Nittany Lions also had 12 hits and took advantage of three Lancaster Bible errors.
The Chargers scored their lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI by
McKayla Smucker who reached on a fielder's choice.

How it Happened: In a repeat of game one, Penn St. Berks took a big early lead and never looked back, as the Nittany Lions scored 11 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 13-3 win. After scoring one run in the first, Penn St. Berks scored 10 times in the second, using eight hits and three Lancaster Bible errors to take an 11-0 lead.
Lancaster Bible scored three times in the top of the fourth inning, as the Chargers blasted five hits in the inning. Burkholder, Smucker and
Marissa Senn each had an RBI in the inning for the Chargers.
