Phoenix Take Two from Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College softball team, fresh off its doubleheader sweep of Gallaudet on Saturday, suffered the other side of that result on Sunday as the Chargers dropped a pair of games to Wilson at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible lost game one, 2-0 and fell, 6-1 in game two. The Chargers are now 5-13 overall this season and 2-2 in conference play, while the Phoenix improved to 8-8 overall and 3-1 in NEAC play.

Wilson 2, Lancaster Bible 0 -- Game 1
How it Happened: The teams combined for just three hits throughout the entire game as Wilson's Megan Potter and Lancaster Bible's pair of  Kelsey Collins and Julia D'Arrigo were at their best for all seven innings. Lancaster Bible senior Julia D'Arrigo connected for the Chargers' only hit of the game in the bottom of the first with two outs and the Chargers had just one base runner the rest of the way as Potter mowed down 13 batters.

Collins had three straight three-up, three-down innings before an error opened the door to a two-run inning in the fourth for the Phoenix. Both runs were unearned in the inning as Rae Hilbish and Kayla Sullenberger had RBIs for the Phoenix. Wilson had just one hit in the final three innings, but Potter made the two runs stand up as Lancaster Bible couldn't crack the freshman.

The Phoenix made it 4-0 in the third, but Lancaster Bible finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth as Morgan Burkholder hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored D'Arrigo who had singled earlier in the inning.

Wilson responded with two runs in the top of the fifth to make it 6-1 and Lancaster Bible had just one base runner after the fourth and dropped back to the .500 mark in conference play.
