Falcons Fly Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College softball team returned home for the first time in three weeks, but it couldn't help snap the team's winless streak, as Cedar Crest swept a doubleheader from the Chargers. Cedar Crest took game one, 26-5 in five innings, and won game two, 9-2. The Chargers are now 2-14 this season, while the Falcons improved to 6-4.

Game Notes: The Falcons scored three runs in the first, and then tacked on 12 in the second inning to blow the game wide open...In the second inning, the Falcons had seven hits, and took advantage of four Lancaster Bible errors en route to 12 runs...Cedar Crest would eventually lead, 23-0, before the Chargers scored three times in the bottom of the fourth...In the fourth, Nicole DeKok scored on a wild pitch, before Rheeana Miles was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that produced a run...Marissa Senn drew a bases loaded walk later in the inning as well...After Cedar Crest scored three times in the fifth, Katie Kleinhans and Bekah Roberts had back-to-back RBI in the home half of the fifth to produce the final score.

Inside the Box Score: DeKok and Morgan Burkholder each had two hits for the Chargers, who finished with seven...DeKok also scored two runs...Roberts and Martina McCauley each went 1-for-2...Cedar Crest had 24 hits, as Kaylee Martinez and Molly Schnaubelt each had eight RBI.

Game Notes: Cedar Crest picked up right where it left off in game one, as the Falcons scored five times in the first two innings...The Chargers cut into the lead in the fourth inning, as Burkholder drew a bases loaded walk, before Brown grounded into a double play that scored Zoie Senn...Cedar Crest scored three more times in the fifth and once in the sixth, as the Falcons won, 9-2.

Inside the Box Score: Burkholder went 2-for-2, as the Chargers had just four hits...Kleinhans and Zoie Senn each went 1-for-3 with a run scored...DeKok took the loss, but scattered just nine hits over seven innings and struck out three...Martinez went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and finished the day going 10-for-10 with eight runs scored and eight RBI.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-3 all-time against Cedar Crest...The seven hits in game one were the most the Chargers have had in a game since their victories over Clarks Summit on March 6...Miles has now been hit by a pitch twice this season, as she and Marissa Senn are tied for the team lead.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible is not scheduled to play again until Wednesday, April 4 in Reading, Pa., as the Chargers open North Eastern Athletic Conference play at Penn St. Berks...First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
