The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team won its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon, as the Chargers defeated Wells, 3-1 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers won, 25-17, 28-26, 20-25, 25-20 and improved to 23-4 overall this season. Wells ended its season at 21-8, as the Chargers defeated the Express for the second time this season.

Lancaster Bible will learn its NCAA Division III First Round opponent on Monday at 10 a.m., and the selection show can be viewed HERE.

1st Set Highlights:
-The teams went back-and-forth early in the first set, but the Chargers won six straight points and took a 10-6 lead
-The Chargers had two block assists during the run, as senior Sky Woelkers was a part of both
-After Wells cut its deficit to 12-10, the Chargers won six of seven points for an 18-11 advantage
-Four different players had kills during the run, while junior Nate Miller added an ace
-The Chargers' advantage was cut to four, 19-15, but Lancaster Bible responded and took the set, 25-17

2nd Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible won the first three points of the second set, but Wells won five of the next six, to take a 5-4 lead
-Wells would eventually lead, 11-9, but Lancaster Bible tied the match at 13-13 on a kill from sophomore Kole Horst
-The set stayed tied, and Wells led 23-21, but Lancaster Bible won three of four points, including fighting off a set point, as senior Kasey Gentry and Woelkers teamed up for a big block
-The Chargers fought off two more set points, and won the final three points of the set to take the second set, 28-26

3rd Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible led 7-5 early in the third set, but Wells won nine of 11 points to take a 14-9 lead
-The Chargers cut their deficit to 14-11, but Wells won five of six points, the final one coming on a kill from Caden O'Loughlin, and took a 19-12 advantage
-Lancaster Bible again climbed to within three again at 21-18, and 22-19, but the Express wouldn't be denied the set and won 25-20 on a kill from Jonathan Haines

4th Set Highlights:
-Wells used the momentum from the third set, and built a 6-3 lead early in the fourth set
-The Express led 10-6 later in the set, but Lancaster Bible won six of eight points and tied the set at 12-12 on an error from Wells
-With the set tied 14-14, Lancaster Bible won four straight points, as Horst, Gentry, and Kreider had three straight kills
-Horst capped the run with an ace, and after two points from Wells, Lancaster Bible again won four straight points, as a kill from Miller gave the Chargers a 22-16 lead
-Leading 24-20, Gentry served for Lancaster Bible and after Wells attempted to get the ball over the net, it fell short, and the Chargers were NEAC Champions

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 48 kills and 21 errors on 139 attempts for a 19.4 hitting percentage, while the Express had 49 kills and 29 errors on 156 attempts for a 12.8 hitting percentage...Each team had 46 digs, while the Chargers held a 12-6 advantage in blocks...Each team also had five aces...Miller, named NEAC Tournament MVP, had 17 kills, 18 digs, three blocks and two aces...Gentry added 13 kills and 11 digs, while Horst had nine kills, seven digs and four blocks...Kreider had seven kills and six blocks, while sophomore Kaleb Ansell had 41 assists and 12 digs...O'Loughlin had 15 kills, 10 digs and three aces to lead Wells.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 6-7 all-time against Wells...The Chargers defeated the Express, 3-1 on March 31...Lancaster Bible is now 1-2 in the NEAC Final, as the Chargers lost in the 2013 and 2014 NEAC Final...Lancaster Bible finishes the season 12-1 at Horst Athletic Center, and Sunday's victory is the 13th straight overall for the Chargers who have not lost since March 3 at Stevens.
