Nittany Lions Drop Chargers, 8-1

The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team dropped its second straight contest on Thursday, as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Harrisburg, 8-1 in Middletown, Pa. The Chargers cap the regular season with a 7-4 record, while the Nittany Lions improve to 8-10 overall. Lancaster Bible will now await to see who its opponent will be in next week's North Eastern Athletic Conference Playoffs.
 
How it Happened: Penn St. Harrisburg took all three doubles matches on Thursday, though the first two matches were very close. The No. 1 team of Greta Strunk and Kayla Hubbard fell just short, 8-6, while the No. 2 team of Michaela Dearborn and Haylee Fishel suffered the same fate, dropping their match, 8-6. The No. 3 team of Sarah Wetzel and Kenedi Berkhimer lost their match to Abigail Clifford and Erin Harnish, 8-2.
 
Fishel secured the lone win for the Chargers on Thursday, as she defeated Claire Hackenberg, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Strunk lost at No. 1 singles in three sets, as she suffered a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 setback. Dearborn fell at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1, while Hubbard dropped her match at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Wetzel dropped her match at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-4, while Berkhimer played well in her No. 6 singles loss, 7-5, 7-5.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 1-8 all-time against Penn St. Harrisburg…Fishel has won five straight singles matches, and is now 8-3 overall this season…Both Fishel and Hubbard are 8-3 in singles play this season…The Chargers are now 4-3 in road matches this season.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible will await its seed in next week's NEAC Playoffs, as the women's tournament will be held April 26-28 in Clarks Summit, Pa…The team portion of the event will be held first on Friday night and Saturday morning, while the individual portion of the tournament will be held Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
