Chargers Lose Third Straight

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team lost its third straight game on Saturday, as the Chargers lost to Wells, 20-11 in Aurora, N.Y. Lancaster Bible is now 3-12 overall and 2-5 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Express improved to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in conference action.
 
How it Happened: Wells scored twice in the opening 4:22 of the contest to take a 2-0 lead, but Lancaster Bible got on the board 5:37 into the game, as Raegan Horst took a pass from fellow senior Hannah Thompson, and cut the Chargers' deficit to one.
 
Wells scored seven of the next eight goals over a 13-minute span, as Horst scored again for the Chargers, but Wells led 9-2 after 20 minutes of play. Horst completed the hat trick with 8:48 left in the half, and then scored twice more three minutes later, as the Chargers cut the deficit to 10-5. After a Wells goal, Thompson scored with 3:25 remaining in the half, and Lancaster Bible trailed, 11-6 at halftime.
 
The Express scored seven of the first eight goals of the second half, as Horst netted her sixth goal of the game for the Chargers. Thompson scored three more goals late in the second half, and Kaylee Boger scored as well, but it was not enough, and the Chargers went 0-2 over the weekend in upstate New York.
 
By the Numbers: Wells held a 40-32 lead in shots, while the Chargers led in ground balls, 20-15, and draw controls, 19-12…Horst finished with six goals, an assist and seven draw controls…Thompson added four goals, two assists and nine draw controls, as well as a team-best seven ground balls…Courtney Stump added two ground balls, while Maelynne Patey had a ground ball and a caused turnover…Nicolette Statuti made 10 saves in the loss.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 2-8 all-time against Wells…The Chargers finish the regular season with a 1-8 record on the road…Thompson now has 12 assists this season, which leads the team, as do her 62 goals and 74 points…Horst is just two goals from 50…Boger is the only other player with double-digit goals, as she has tallied 15 this season.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns home to Donald H. Funk Field next Friday, as the Chargers host D'Youville at 4 p.m…Lancaster Bible will host Keuka the following day at 1 p.m., as the Chargers celebrate Senior Day.
