Chargers Fall to Bison to End Season

The Lancaster Bible College softball team dropped its final two games of the season on Wednesday, as the Chargers lost to Gallaudet in a doubleheader at Charger Field. The Bison won game one, 5-1, and then defeated the Chargers, 4-0 in game two. Lancaster Bible finishes the year with an overall record of 11-23, and a 5-13 mark in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Bison finished their season at 12-20 overall and 4-14 in NEAC action.
 
The games were also the final collegiate contests for four-year seniors Zoie Senn and Morgan Burkholder who were each playing in their 143rd and 144th career contests. Both players were honored prior to game one on Wednesday, and have contributed greatly to the team both on-and-off the field.

Game 1
Gallaudet 5, Lancaster Bible 1
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible opened the scoring in game one, as Rheeana Miles scored on an error by Gallaudet, and made it 1-0 in favor of the Chargers. The game remained that way until the fourth inning when the Bison loaded the bases with no one out.
 
After a bases loaded walk and a pitching change, the Bison took the lead on an error by the Chargers, and tacked on two more runs thanks to a wild pitch and passed ball. Gallaudet capped the inning with an RBI single, as the Bison scored five runs on two hits and two errors.
 
Kendra Brown doubled to lead off the fifth inning, but was stranded there, and the Chargers never threatened again in game one.
 
Inside the Box Score: Lancaster Bible had just four hits in game one, while the Bison had five…Nicole DeKok went 2-for-3 for the Chargers, while Miles was 1-for-3 with a run scored…Brown finished 1-for-3 with an RBI…Both DeKok and Martina McCauley pitched in game one, as the pair allowed just one earned run, and struck out nine Gallaudet batters.

How it Happened: After two scoreless innings, Gallaudet got on the board in the third inning with three runs. Kendall Hudson doubled home a run early in the inning, and the Bison then scored two unearned runs in the inning as well.

Hudson scored on another Lancaster Bible error in the fifth inning to cap the scoring, as neither team could generate much offense in game two.
 
Inside the Box Score: DeKok had three of Lancaster Bible's six hits in game two, as she was 3-for-3…Bryanna Hoover, Senn and Miles each had a hit for the Chargers in game two as well…Tracy Hatton pitched a complete game for the Chargers, as she scattered seven hits, allowed just one earned run, and struck out five batters.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 11-9 all-time against Gallaudet…DeKok finished the year with a .381 batting average, and was the only player with 40 hits on the Chargers…Zoie Senn finished her career with 135 hits, the second-most in program history behind Julia D'Arrigo, who had 138 hits…Burkholder ended her career with 118 hits, 30 of which were for extra bases…The Chargers finished the season with a 4-9 record at home.
