Ream's Header Powers Chargers Past Gophers

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team continued to build momentum, taking down Goucher in a nonconference match up by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday, October 26.
 
The Chargers battled to control possession throughout the opening twenty minutes and began to create scoring opportunities. In the 21st minute, LBC would earn a corner kick and off the kick Kendal Ream headed a shot that was saved. The Chargers continued to get the ball into promising positions, but they could not create a scoring opportunity keeping the game scoreless headed into the half.
 
In the second half, the Chargers continued to put pressure on the Gophers defense. Bryanna Hoover battled for a loose ball outside the box, drawing a foul and earning a free kick in the 61st minute. Marissa Allebach stepped up to take the free kick, firing a shot that bounced off the crossbar. Kendal Ream raced into the box heading the rebound into the back of the net, giving LBC a 1-0 lead. This was Ream's tenth goal of the season. With the lead, LBC dropped numbers back into the defensive end of the field, stifling Goucher's attack. The Gophers' would fire six shots in the second half, but Hannah Lieb was up for the challenge making two key saves. LBC would hold on to secure the 1-0 victory.  
 
Inside The Numbers
- Kendal Ream headed in a goal off a free kick in the 62nd minute, her 10th goal of the season
- Marissa Allebach took the free kick, earning her second assist of the season
- Hannah Lieb made two saves, earning her third shutout of the season
- Goucher held a 10-4 edge in shots; however, LBC had an advantage in shots on goal, 3-2
 
Who's Next
The women's soccer team will conclude regular season play with a trip to St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday, October 30 at 4:00 p.m.
