How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team dominated United East opponent Wells College, rolling to a 73-23 win on Saturday, December 4.

The Chargers (4-4 Overall, 2-0 United East) dominated the first quarter, opening the game on an 8-0 run that featured a 3-pointer from
Lizzy Tilton. After Wells (0-6 Overall, 0-2 United East) scored their first bucket of the day,
Jade Eshelman completed a three-point play to put LBC ahead by nine points.
Jenna Dombach drained back-to-back 3-pointers to take an 18-2 lead.
Hope Hodges and
Mikayla Via followed by swishing back-to-back 3-pointers to close the quarter, giving the Chargers a 21-point lead heading to the second quarter.

LBC worked hard on the defensive end of the floor in the second quarter, shutting the Express out. Meanwhile the offense continued to grow the lead with Eshleman and Tilton knocking down jump shots.
Faith Hammond knocked down a jumper to put the Chargers ahead 38-7, and LBC held that advantage going into the half.

Alaysha Iwais opened the second half with a splash, connecting on a 3-pointer to put the Chargers ahead by 34 points. Via and Dombach each hit another 3-pointer, with Dombach's triple giving LBC a 49-11 lead. With the big lead, head coach
Joy Tharrington turned to her bench players and they would deliver. The Chargers' bench scored 43 points, outscoring Wells' bench by 41 points. Hammond closed the quarter with another layup, making the score 55-16 going into the final frame. LBC continued to push the advantage in the second half, leading by as many as 52 points. The Chargers improved to 2-0 in United East play with the 73-23 victory.

"I told the team at the beginning of this week where we knew we would have three games and a back-to-back, that these three games were all about toughness," said head coach
Joy Tharrington. "I am encouraged to see that we do have resilience and the ability to execute through fatigue. I couldn't be more pleased with how we began conference play."
