The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team made it nine straight victories on Saturday afternoon, as the Chargers swept Penn St. Altoona, 3-0 in Altoona, Pa. The No. 11 Chargers improved to 11-3 this season with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 victory. Penn St. Altoona is now 0-2 overall this season.

How it Happened: The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 6-3 lead early in the opening set, but Lancaster Bible rattled off seven straight points and took a 10-6 lead. Six of the seven points came on errors by Penn St. Altoona, while senior
Kyran Flahive added an ace as well. Penn St. Altoona hung around, and won six of eight points midway through the set and cut Lancaster Bible's lead to 15-14 after a Chargers error. Lancaster Bible recovered by winning six of seven points, as
Kole Horst capped the run with a kill.
Caleb Roberts and
Hunter Davis ended the set with back-to-back kills and the Chargers had a 1-0 lead.

The teams exchanged points to open the second set, but Lancaster Bible used a 6-0 run to open up an 11-5 lead, as Flahive and Davis combined for a block, and
Elijah Herb ended the run with a kill. Flahive had two more aces later in the set, and an error by the Nittany Lions gave Lancaster Bible a 20-9 lead. Roberts had two late kills in the second set for the Chargers, and Lancaster Bible won the frame on back-to-back errors by the Nittany Lions.

After going back-and-forth to open the third set, Lancaster Bible put together a 9-0 run that featured kills from Horst and Herb, as well as three more aces from Flahive. The Chargers continued to roll through the set, and an error by Penn St. Altoona gave the set and match to Lancaster Bible.

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 8-11 all-time against Penn St. Altoona, and the Chargers have won five straight matches against the Nittany Lions…Lancaster Bible is 3-1 on the road this season and 4-3 in all matches away from Horst Athletic Center…The Chargers have swept seven straight matches…Lancaster Bible has posted seven or more aces in eight of its last nine matches…Horst is just 30 kills short of 1,000 for his career, and should he reach the mark, he will become just the second player in program history to do so, joining
Nate Miller (2018-20) who is the all-time leader in program history with 1,046.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible does not currently have any other teams scheduled, but actively looking for matches…There will be an NCAA Division III Tournament, though because the North Eastern Athletic Conference did not play this season, the Chargers will need to receive an at-large bid to the tournament which is scheduled for mid-April.
