The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Saturday in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final, as the Chargers lost to top-seeded Penn St. Harrisburg, 7-2 in Middletown, Pa. Lancaster Bible caps its season with a 6-4 overall record, while the Nittany Lions will head to the NEAC-NAC Crossover Match with a 7-0 record.

Doubles: Lancaster Bible lost to Penn St. Harrisburg, 9-0 just three weeks ago, but on Saturday, earned a point in doubles play, as the No. 2 team of
Haylee Fishel and
Kenedi Berkhimer defeated Olivia Hitz and Isabella Pizzelanti, 8-7 (7-5). Fishel and Berkhimer lost to Hitz and Pizzelanti, 8-4 on Apr. 10, but were able to grab an early point for the Chargers.

The No. 1 team of
Deanna Graber and
Cara DiCiano fought hard, but lost, 8-3, while the No. 3 doubles team of
Kaitlin Kirby and
Chloe Campbell fell, 8-1 to Gabrielle Sabatose and Mary Connolly.

Singles: DiCiano earned Lancaster Bible's other point on Saturday, as she defeated Sydney Nye, 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. DiCiano had lost to Nye in straight sets just 21 days ago, but was able to win the first set, and then earn the victory in the super tie-breaker.

Graber lost at No. 1 singles to NEAC Player of the Year Rachael Lim, 6-4, 6-2, and Fishel fell to Hitz, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Berkhimer went to a tie-breaker in the first set of her No. 4 singles match, but lost 7-3 in the tiebreaker, and then dropped the second set, 6-0. Kirby dropped her No. 5 singles match, 6-3, 6-0, and Campbell lost to Pizzelanti, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Rod Baughman said. "They gave an outstanding effort and represented Lancaster Bible well against a very good team. Penn St. Harrisburg will represent the NEAC well next week."

Haylee Fishel: "We will miss Haylee so much next year, both on and off the court," Baughman said. "Her No. 2 doubles match with Kenedi was bit for us out of the gate today."

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 1-10 all-time against Penn St. Harrisburg…This is the second straight NEAC postseason the Chargers have lost in the NEAC Final, as Lancaster Bible lost to Penn St. Abington, 5-3 in the 2019 NEAC Final…DiCiano finished her year with a 9-1 record at No. 2 singles, and her nine singles wins are tied for the fourth-most in program history for a single season…Fishel capped her career with 24 singles wins, the second-most in program history.
