Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Men's Soccer Wins Up North

The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team looked to follow up the women's performance on Saturday afternoon as they too battled United East conference foe SUNY Morrisville. The men did just that, winning 3-0 on two goals from Clark Shreiner and a goal from Ben Nolt, moving to 3-1 in conference play and sitting at 6-3-1 overall.

How It Happened: The Chargers would come out firing on goal, sending six shots on goal within the first 20 minutes. It wouldn't be until the freshman Ben Nolt would find the goal for the first score of the game off a fantastic assist from teammate Matthew Eufemia. With a 1-0 lead, the Charger offense would continue to push the attack while the defense limited the Mustangs opportunities.

Moving into the second half looking to extend the lead for the Chargers, Clark Shreiner would step up and knock not one but two goals in a matter of two minutes. Shreiner's first goal would register in the 54th minute on an assist from Kedric Yoder and the second would come on a solo shot at the 56th minute. Following the Shreiner takeover, the Chargers would continue to control the game offensively and defensively, pacing themselves to a 3-0 victory and conference win.

From the Coach: "The boys were up for the challenge today figuring out Morrisville, and in the second half we were able to really move the ball and create chances. It's been a good trip together and we are looking forward to a day of rest and then some great training sessions early next week." – Head Coach Tommy Ardt

By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Mustangs 16-8 with 10 of those being on goal… LBC would tally five saves while the Mustangs would have seven… the Chargers won the corner kick battle 5-1.

Information to Know: The matchup between Morrisville is always interesting for the Chargers as Coach Ardt acknowledged, but they've been on a four game now five game win streak against the Mustangs.

The Chargers currently sit at second place in the United East standings behind the undefeated St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks who beat the Chargers 4-2 on Homecoming.

Up Next: The Chargers will return next week for a highly anticipated match against conference rival Penn St. Harrisburg in Middletown, Pa on Wednesday, October 5th at 7:30 p.m.
