Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Men’s Soccer Earns Non-Conference Victory over Valley Forge

The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team followed up their fourth conference win Saturday with a convincing non-conference 4-0 win over the University of Valley Forge on Monday night. The win moves the Chargers overall record to 8-3-2 for the 2022 season.

How It Happened: The Chargers would have several early looks against the Patriots, but none would seem to find its mark. That was until graduate senior Kedric Yoder would collect a rebound on the right corner of the box and place a sweet left-footed shot in the upper corner of the goal. This would be his sixth of the season and put the Chargers up 1-0. The Chargers would continue to pour on the attack, sending 10 shots towards the goal; credit to the Patriots goalie for making several key saves and limiting the lead to 1-0 as both teams headed to the half.

It would just be four minutes into the second half that Yoder would lob the ball into the box off a corner kick which would find senior Nate Muckle to head the ball into the back of the net. The header would increase the Charger lead to 2-0. In the 59th minute, Yoder would add to his point total, placing a ball in the right side of the goal off an assist from teammate Sam Glock and extending the Charger lead to 3-0.

Hayden Walker would put away the fourth and final goal of the game from a nice assist by sophomore Isaac Kauffeldt. The Chargers would go on to win 4-0 due to their tough defense and strong offense.

By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Patriots 21-7 with 14 of them being on target… UVF tallied 10 saves… LBC had seven corner kicks. Yoder finished with two goals, Muckle and Walker added one each.

Up Next: The Chargers will return to the lights of Donald H. Funk Field on Wednesday, October 12th for a highly anticipated match with cross-town foe and nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall College at 7 p.m.
