Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Men’s Soccer Defeated in NCCAA Midwest Regional by Yellow Jackets

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team traveled to Cedarville, Ohio on Monday afternoon to compete in the NCCAA Midwest Regional playoff game against the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University. The Chargers fell 4-0 ending their 2022 campaign with a 12-5-3 overall record while the Yellow Jackets improve to 12-8-2 for the year.

How It Happened: The Yellow Jackets found themselves down early as the Yellow Jackets scored just 2:15 into the start of the game. The Chargers responded with several shots of their own but none of them would find its mark. The Yellow Jackets managed to score again at the 30:44 mark sending the game to halftime with a 2-0 deficit for the Chargers.

The Chargers looked to turn the corner in the second half with junior Sam Glock putting a nice shot on goal that'd be saved by the Yellow Jackets goalkeeper. After several more attacks from both sides, the Yellow Jackets found the goal twice more in the 74th minute and the 89th minute ending the game 4-0.

From the Coach: "Today was tough for us in a few key areas and we need to learn and work harder than ever this off-season. Cedarville is a strong team and we have to keep building brick by brick to raise our level of play. I'm proud of all the time and work our guys put in this season and we are excited for the joys and challenges ahead that the game will continue to bring us. We thank God most importantly for our team and all the relationships that we are building that will last a lifetime." – Head Coach Tommy Ardt

By the Numbers: The Yellow Jackets outshot the Chargers 16-8 with seven of their shots on goal and two of the Chargers… the Chargers had three assists to the Yellow Jackets' two… the Yellow Jackets had six corner kicks.

Information to Know: This is only the second time these two programs have met. The first was in 1979 which Cedarville ended up winning 6-0.

Up Next: This wraps up the 2022 season for the Chargers as they finished the year 12-5-3, clinched the United East Semi-Finals as the number three seed, and entered the NCCAA Midwest Regional playoff game. As Coach Tommy Ardt said, the team will look to use this off-season to grow and continue to build this program brick by brick.
