How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team fell in their regular season finale, losing to Penn St. Harrisburg by a score of 63-58 on Saturday, February 19.

The Chargers (13-12 Overall, 10-6 United East) struggled to find their rhythm early in the first half, falling behind 6-0.
Lizzy Tilton hit a 3-pointer to get the Chargers on the board. Penn St. Harrisburg (16-8 Overall, 11-5 United East) responded, taking an 11-3 lead three minutes into the game.
Adalyn Steiner stopped the run, finishing a layup off a great pass from Tilton.
Alaysha Iwais then connected on a jump shot, cutting the deficit down to four. Later in the quarter,
Mikayla Via hit a 3-pointer, bring the Chargers back within a single point. Harrisburg closed the quarter on a 5-1 run, taking a 21-15 lead into the second quarter.

Both teams used lock down defense to prevent any scoring during the opening two and half minutes of the second quarter.
Sydney Heller started the scoring hitting a 3-pointer to pull LBC back within three points. Harrisburg found their rhythm, using a 10-0 run to grab a 31-18 lead with 4:08 remaining in the half. LBC fought back using a 7-0 run capped off with a 3-point play by Tilton to cut the deficit down to six points. Harrisburg hit a 3-pointer just before the end of the half, taking a 37-27 lead into the break.

Steiner started the scoring in the second half by slashing to the basket for a layup. Iwais followed with a layup to cut the deficit down to six. Harrisburg stretched the lead back to 10 points with 7:03 remaining in the quarter. Heller stopped the run, driving into the lane for a layup.
Jenna Dombach then connected on a 3-pointer, cutting the lead down to five.
Jade Eshelman hit a layup to cut the deficit down to three and then Heller came away with a steal and score to bring LBC within a single point. The Lions answered scoring five straight points to recapture a six-point lead.
Emma Drouillard cut into the deficit just before the end of the quarter, hitting a 3-pointer. LBC trailed 50-45 going into the final quarter.

The Chargers started the final quarter by pulling within three points when Steiner finished a layup. Harrisburg again pulled away, building a nine point lead with 5:12 remaining in the game. LBC made one last push, closing within two points after back-to-back layups by Eshelman. Harrisburg held off the push, picking up a 63-58 victory.

"I am proud of our effort and fight for four quarters, but we did not bring our best game," said head coach
Joy Tharrington. "This year has given me a very clear picture of what it will take for us to compete and win in the United East. I love the legacy our seniors have left and look forward to seeing how our returners grow from this year."Â

Who's Next
The women's basketball team finished the regular season tied with St. Mary's College of Maryland for the #4 spot in the United East Standings. The Seahawks edged out the Chargers for the final playoff due to the tiebreaker.
