How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team scored 100 points for the first time since 2016, defeating Penn St. Berks by a score of 104-34 on Wednesday, February 9.

Lancaster Bible (11-11 Overall, 8-5 United East) snatched the momentum early in the first quarter opening the game on a 6-0 run powered by a pair of layups from
Jade Eshelman. After Penn St. Berks (0-19 Overall, 0-12 United East) got on the board with a 3-pointer,
Sydney Heller swished LBC's first 3-pointer of the game to make the score 9-3.
Alaysha Iwais extended the lead, swiping a steal and finishing a layup in transition.
Jenna Dombach and Heller each added a layup, giving the Chargers a 15-5 advantage midway through the quarter. Later in the quarter,
Hope Hodges drilled a 3-pointer, giving the Chargers a 13-point lead.

Lizzy Tilton each hit a jump shot, giving LBC a 26-12 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Eshelman started the scoring for LBC in the second half, finishing a layup off a pass from Iwais.
Adalyn Steiner scored back-to-back baskets off passes from Iwais, extending the lead to 20 points. Iwais scored back-to-back layups to close out a 14-0 run for the Chargers. LBC continued to push the advantage, taking a 51-20 lead into the half. The Chargers matched their first half season-high for points scored.

Dombach drilled a 3-pointer to open scoring in the second half. Heller followed with her second 3-pointer of the game, making the score 57-23. Iwais swiped back-to-back steals leading to easy transition layups for LBC. Later in the quarter, Eshelman converted a layup off a great pass from Dombach, giving the Chargers a 45-point lead. Penn St. Berks cut into the deficit going on a 6-0 run until Tilton finished a layup. Hodges then converted a three-point play making the score 74-29. LBC closed the quarter on a 9-0 run capped off by a layup from
Grace Martin, giving the Chargers an 80-29 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Chargers continued to roll in the fourth quarter, with Hodges hitting another 3-pointer to put LBC up by 53 points.
Faith Hammond scored eight points in the final frame, helping the Chargers pick up the 104-34 victory. This is the first time LBC has scored 100 points in game since they scored 107 against Wilson College in 2016. The 104 points are the fourth most scored in a single game in school-history.

"Overall, I thought we played excellent team basketball on the offensive side tonight but could have done a better job getting stops defensively," said head coach
Joy Tharrington. "I loved our energy and enjoyed watching all ten players contribute and step up in big ways."
