Final – Lycoming 3, Lancaster Bible 3
The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team traveled to Williamsport, Pa. on Wednesday night to matchup against the Warriors of Lycoming College. After a last second equalizer from the Warriors, the Chargers would end up drawing 3-3. The Chargers move to an overall record of 2-1-1 as they enter conference play on Saturday. Lycoming moves to 2-1-3 following the tie.
How It Happened: Both teams would battle back and forth for the first half until a hustle play from junior
Owen Nell would draw a foul and free kick on the right sideline near the box. Freshman
Drew Schwartz would go on to lob the ball to the center of the box, finding fellow teammate, junior
Sam Glock, who would place a header perfectly in the back corner of the net. This sequence would put the Chargers up 1-0 just before heading into half.
Following a 1-0 halftime, graduate student
Kedric Yoder would waste no time, adding to the lead as the veteran dribbled across the middle of the box to the right side before putting a move on the defender which would send him the other way and clear enough space to put the ball into the goal from his left foot. Yoder's efforts would create a 2-0 advantage for the Chargers just 2:18 into the second half.
Lycoming would respond with a goal of their own in the 56
th minute. Keeping up with the fast pace, Chargers wouldn't shy away as sophomore
Devyn Kintzer placed a powerful shot into the left side of the net on an assist from freshman
Marcos Nunez.
Despite the Chargers' efforts, the Warriors would not go away, sending corner after corner into the box as they frantically took every shot they could get. They would find success off a corner in the 67
th minute which would close the deficit by one. The Warriors would continue to add pressure and the moment it looked like the Chargers held on for the victory, Lycoming sent one last prayer into the box which snuck past the Charger defense and tied the game 3-3. The game would end in a draw 3-3 following the pair of Lycoming goals.
