The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team lost a non-conference matchup with the Cavaliers of Cabrini University 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Following the loss, the Chargers move to 3-5 overall while the Cavaliers move to 5-3.
Â
How It Happened: The Chargers and Cavaliers would start the match switching fields back and forth with no real break in the defense for either of the teams. It wasn't until the 20
th minute that a Cabrini offensive player would send the ball towards the Chargers box only to find a teammate waiting to put the ball in the net. The Chargers would head to halftime with a 1-0 deficit.
Â
Coming out of halftime it would feel as though the Chargers would have a second burst of energy sending several shots towards the goal from both sophomore
Jade Weir and senior
Kendal Ream. Unfortunately, none of them would break the plane of the goal.
Â
In the 66
th minute Cabrini would take a shot just inside the box that would hit the back left of the net extending the Cavalier lead to 2-0. Following the goal, the Cavalier defense would tighten up not allowing anymore shots from the LBC offense. Without a breakdown in defense the clock would hit zero and the Cavaliers would take the game 2-0.
Â
By the Numbers: The Cavaliers held the advantage in both shots with a 20-7 advantage and corner kicks 7-0… LBC marked 11 saves for the game.
Â
Information to Know: The Chargers are just about halfway through their 2022 season with a series of important games including Morrisville this weekend, Penn St. Harrisburg next week, and Penn St. Abington in the middle of October.
Â
