Lancaster Bible Stumbles at Juniata

Box Score The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team traveled to Juniata and suffered a 69-47 defeat. The Chargers now have a record of 1-3 to start the year, while the Eagles pick up their first win of the season to go to 1-2.

How It Happened: The Chargers started out slow offensively as they trailed 4-10 four minutes into the game, but in an effort to get things rolling, freshman Rachel Nolt hit the team's first three-pointer of the game to shorten the deficit. Following a brief scoring rally over the next handful of possessions, Nolt tied the game at 16 with another three. However, the Eagles put together a brief run to end the first quarter with a 21-18 lead. The second quarter was all about defense for both sides. Isabella Eufemia put points on the board early in the period, but the Chargers only scored one more time through the first six minutes of the quarter. Luckily, a strong defensive effort kept the game within grasp, and a Natalie Wenger foul shot gave Lancaster Bible their first lead of the game late in the second period. Juniata quickly climbed back to take the lead 30-25 going into the half.

In a game that saw no team pull away in the first half, the Eagles came out soaring in the third quarter leading by 15 in the middle of the period. However, the Chargers halted the run with Alaysha Iwais and Nolt each nailing a three to bring the deficit back to single digits. As the team continued to crawl back, Jenna Dombach drilled a three-pointer just before the end of the quarter to make it a 40-45 game. The Eagles quickly responded in the fourth quarter and took a double-digit lead again just under two minutes into the period. The Chargers tried to fight back, but ultimately, they fell short 69-47.

By the Numbers:
-Rachel Nolt put up a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds
-Raven Hunter also added eight points and nine rebounds
-The Chargers shot just 18-67 (26.9%) from the field compared to the Eagles' 25-63 (39.7%)
-Haily Sherman led Juniata in scoring with 15 points

Information to Know: This is the two schools' second time facing off in program history, and Juniata has now won both. Following her performance, senior Alaysha Iwais has now surpassed 600 career points and is one shy of 300 career rebounds. Fellow senior Jenna Dombach also reached 600 career points tonight as she scored nine points against the Eagles.
