The Lancaster Bible College softball team traveled to Wells, New York on Saturday, April 29 to compete in their final United East Conference double-header of the 2023 season against the Wells Express. The Chargers picked up an 18-2 win the first game but fell in the second game 8-6. The Chargers conclude the season 10-26 overall while finishing 5-19 in the United East Conference. The Express move to 2-34 overall and 1-23 in conference.

Game One, 18-2 Win

How It Happened: The Chargers grabbed an early 2-0 after two innings of play after doubles from
Phoebe Clemens and
Alyssa Hamilton. The Express tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning, scoring two runs off a double, but they would be the only two runs of the game for the Express. The Chargers proceeded to score 16 unanswered runs through the seventh inning to earn their 10
th win of the season.

By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 16 hits for 18 runs and 14 RBIs… the Express had six hits for two runs and two RBIs… the Chargers grabbed six doubles and one triple, while the Express had one double…
Phoebe Clemens went 4-5 including two doubles, five RBIs, and two runs…
Amelia Huey went 2-5 with two doubles and four RBIs…

Game Two, 6-8 Loss

How It Happened: Looking to capitalize off the first game, the Charger bats cooled down as they couldn't get anything on the board in the first two innings. The Express, however, managed to score six runs in those two innings to jump to a 6-0 lead over the Chargers. In the top of the third inning, Clemens got the Chargers going with a three-run home run to bring the game within three runs. The Express put two more runs on the board through the fourth inning to make it a 8-4 ballgame. The Chargers looked to rally as
Noelle Martin reached on an error in the fifth inning to bring home Clemens. Then in the seventh inning,Â
Adalyn Steiner brought in
Sheyenne King off a sacrifice hit and Clemens scored off a drop ball third strike to make it 6-8. But, the Chargers rally fell short and the Express went on to win 8-6.
