The Lancaster Bible Women's Tennis Team opened their 2023 Fall Season at Immaculata on Monday, September 18 falling in a tightly contested 5-4 match. Under the leadership of first year head coach Devon Clemmer, the Chargers improved greatly falling 8-1 to the same team last year.
Sophomores
Jania Weist,
Natalie Hoover, and
Susannah Clawser all picked up key singles win for the Chargers. Hoover had an intense three set match finishing the last set 10-7 to earn the win. Claswer finished with a convincing singles win while Weist completed her win in two sets. Freshman
Sarah Steckbeck lost at the #1 slot in singles in a tough three set match while
Sierra Hartmann fought hard but ultimately fell.
With a 3-3 match score after a forfeit by the Chargers at the sixth slot, the Chargers looked to carry their momentum into the doubles side of the match. Hartmann and Hoover won their set 8-5, but a forfeit tied the score once again. At the #1 slot for singles, Steckbeck and Weist both battled hard but the Mighty Macs proved to be too much as they won the final match 8-6 claiming the victory.
