The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team hosted United East Conference foe Keystone Giants on Tuesday night tying with the visitors 1-1 after
Owen Shoemaker scored with just four minutes left. The Chargers move to 4-8-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference and clinch playoff contention while the Giants are now 3-10-2 overall and 2-3-2 in conference.
How It Happened: The Giants scored their lone goal of the night early, exactly 1:59 into the game to take a 1-0 lead on the Chargers. Finding themselves on their heels on their home turf, the Chargers rattled off nine first half shots compared to the Giants one. However, it was the Giants shot that resulted in the lone goal of the half.
The second half was much of the same as the Chargers kept consistent offensive pressure sending attack after attack. Unfortunately, the Chargers just couldn't break the plane of the goal as the time continued to tick down. That was until just under four minutes into a game that sophomore
Owen Shoemaker netted his first goal of the season on an assist from
Luke Myers to tie the game at 1-1. The final minutes ran out as the two teams finished in a draw 1-1.
By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Giants 21-5… the Giants had 10 saves to the Chargers two… the Chargers tallied 10 corner kicks… Shoemaker scored for the Chargers and Myers had the assist… Hernan Godoy had the goal for the Giants.
Up Next: The Chargers head to Penn St. Brandywine on Friday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m. for their last regular season game of the year.
