The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team entered the United East quarterfinals this Saturday afternoon at Penn St. Abington after upsetting the seven-seed Rosemont on Wednesday night. The Chargers couldn't overcome the Lions falling 2-0 to end their 2024 campaign. The Chargers finish their season 5-1-0-3 overall and 2-4-2 in conference while the Lions improve to 8-6-4 overall and 7-0-1 in conference.
How It Happened: The Chargers held strong in the first half carrying the momentum gained in their overtime win at Rosemont on Wednesday. An early corner kick and shot on goal from
Luke Myers got the game started. The Lions responded with several of their own shots on goal but were not able to convert as Chargers goalkeeper
Luke Macchione registered four saves in the first half to keep the score 0-0 at the half.
Unable to gain any offensive movement in the second half, it was the Lions who were the first to find the goal in the 61
st minute to take the lead 1-0. Just under ten minutes later the home team found their second goal of the game in the 80
th minute to make it a 2-0 lead with just ten minutes remaining. The Chargers were unable to capitalize on a few more chances leading to a 2-0 defeat at Penn St. Abington and the end of the 2024 season.
