Women’s Tennis Clinch Spot in United East Postseason with 5-4 Win over Penn St. Abington

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Tennis team hosted the Penn St. Abington Lions in their third home match of the week on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers came up huge in what would be a crucial win for the program, 5-4, to clinch a spot in the 2024 United East Championship. The Chargers improve to 7-10 overall and 3-2 in conference while the Lions move to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Beginning with doubles action, the Chargers were only able to secure one win of the three as Sierra Hartmann and Natalie Hoover won 8-5. Sarah Steckbeck and Jania Weist battled but ultimately fell 8-4.

Facing a 2-1 deficit and their postseason on the line, the Chargers earned four key wins from Hartmann, Weist, Hoover, and Susannah Clawser. While each competitor won handidly, Hartmann had the toughest test, winning the tiebreaker 6-3. The win marks their fourth in a row and third of the week.

Up Next: The Chargers will travel to two-seed St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday, April 23 for an opportunity to go to the Volt Division Final. The time is to be determined.
