Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Mark Rowles

Last-Second Goal Downs Chargers on the Road

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer suffered a 2-1 loss at Waynesburg on Saturday night as a last-second goal found its way in the net. The Chargers fall to 2-3-1 overall while the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-2.

How it Happened:
The Chargers brought pressure early as Ben Nolt and Dan Marcroft each fired several shots in the first 10 minutes. Lancaster Bible's defense did not allow a shot on goal in the first half, stifling the Yellow Jackets. After several more shots from the Chargers, Luke Myers took the ball up the sideline and crossed it in on the ground, finding Andrew Cox for a nifty goal to put the Chargers up 1-0 in the 43rd minute, taking that lead into halftime.

The Chargers kept up the pace coming out of halftime, getting four shots off in the first 10 minutes. Waynesburg put some pressure on keeper Chris Jackson, making a pair of saves, but the Yellow Jackets struck at the 67-minute mark with a game-tying goal. For the remainder of the half, the Chargers put six shots on goal and forced a corner kick, but a late foul that stopped the clock allowed for Waynesburg to set up a free kick and sneak a shot past Jackson to end the game 2-1 with just seconds remaining.

By the Numbers:
- The Chargers outpaced Waynesburg with a season-high 26 shots, with 16 shots on goal compared to the Yellow Jackets' 13 shots (six on goal)
- Andrew Cox netted the lone goal of the night for the Chargers
- Luke Myers connected with Cox for his second assist of the season
- Chris Jackson made four saves in goal for the Chargers

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 4-2 all-time against Waynesburg, winning the previous four matchups including a 4-1 home win last season on October 21. The Chargers' 16 shots on goal was their most since October 8, 2022 when they put 21 on goal against Wells College. Junior Andrew Cox's goal tonight was the 24th of his career, moving him into a tie for 18th in program history.

Up Next:
The Chargers are back home on Tuesday, September 24 for a bout with Albright at 6:00 p.m., their final non-conference before opening up United East play.
