Men’s Soccer Loses in Quarterfinals

The 6-seed Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team traveled to Abington, Pa. to compete in the United East Quarterfinals to face 3-seed Penn St. Abington, falling by a score of 4-0 and seeing their season come to an end. The Chargers finish at 8-7-3 overall while the Lions improve to 9-6-4 overall and advance to the United East Semifinals to face 2-seed Penn St. Harrisburg on Wednesday, November 5.
 
How it Happened:
The Lions had a few off-target shots early and the Chargers drew a corner kick 13 minutes in but could not score. After drawing a corner kick, the Lions scored in the 23rd minute to open up the scoring. The Chargers drew two more corners on offense, but could not get a shot off in the first half as they entered halftime down 1-0 to Abington on the road.
 
Junior Dan Marcroft had a shot on goal early in the second half that was saved, then the Lions flipped the field quickly and struck again at the 47-minute mark to extend their lead. Marcroft forced another save by the keeper for a corner kick, then freshman Ruben Reyes had a shot that missed high. The Lions padded their lead at home with two more second-half scores to close out a 4-0 victory over the Chargers and advance to the conference semifinals.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Lions led in shots 14-9 while the Chargers drew more corner kicks 7-3
- Dan Marcroft led the Chargers with two shots on goal
- Freshman Micah Dressler made four saves in goal for the Chargers
- Laurence Narcisi had game-high two goals for the Lions and Israel Gonzalez tallied two assists
 
Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 0-3 all-time against Penn St. Abington in the conference postseason and have been eliminated in Abington on the road for the second consecutive season. The Chargers' four conference wins this season were the most since 2023 and their eight total wins were a three-win improvement from last season.
