The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team kicked off the month of December at home as they hosted Saint Elizabeth on Monday night, racing to a 63-48 victory for their second straight win. The Chargers improve to 2-7 overall while the Eagles fall to 2-4 overall.
Â
How it Happened:
Senior
Raven Hunter got the scoring started for the Chargers with a layup, then the Eagles swung ahead 3-2 for their only lead of the first half. Junior
Isabella Eufemia put LBC back up on a pair of free throws, then freshman
Emily Wilson hit a jumper for a three-point lead. Saint Elizabeth tied the game twice throughout the rest of the first quarter, then a Hunter free throw put LBC up 10-9 at the end of 10 minutes.
Â
Bella Eufemia opened the second-quarter scoring with a made 3-pointer for a four-point lead, but the Eagles matched right away with a three of their own. Eufemia knocked down another three, then junior
Rachel Nolt hit back-to-back jump shots to keep the Chargers on top. With four minutes left in the half, Nolt got a layup to go, then knocked down a 3-pointer at the top of the key for a nine-point LBC lead. Eufemia closed the half with her third made three of the quarter, giving the Chargers a 30-18 halftime advantage.
Â
Hunter matched an early Eagles score with a layup in the paint, then had another score with six minutes to go in the third for the Chargers' largest lead of the game thus far at 16 points. Saint Elizabeth came within a dozen several times, but the Chargers kept them at arm's length with Nolt and Hunter keeping up the pace on the scoreboard. Eufemia ended the third quarter with another 3-pointer as the Chargers carried a 13-point lead into the final period.
Â
Wilson had a pair of scores early in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles fought back to within 10 points by the seven-minute mark. That's when Eufemia hit yet another 3-pointer from the corner and Hunter had another layup to get it back to 15 within two minutes. The Chargers closed out the game by drawing fouls to add points on the board and keeping Saint Elizabeth off of it, closing out a 15-point home victory to open up December with a win.
