The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team opened up United East competition on Tuesday night as they traveled to Langhorne, Pa. to face Cairn, sweeping in a 3-0 victory. The Chargers improve to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in conference while the Highlanders fall to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the United East.
How it Happened:
After trading the first few points, kills by senior
Dawson Forney and sophomore
Carson Hoover landed kills to score three in a row, then sophomore
Kevin Bryant scored the first of six straight points for the Chargers with a kill to round out a 9-1 scoring run for Lancaster Bible early in set one. The Chargers maintained the edge for the rest of the set, winning 25-17 on a kill by Bryant.
The Chargers started set two on a heater as they raced to a 5-0 lead behind kills and blocks from sophomores
Jaiden Flanagan and
Jordan Yoder. LBC pulled away even further late in the set as they ripped an 8-1 scoring run featuring an ace from junior
Tyler Martin and kills by Flanagan and Forney, extending the lead to 18-10. The Chargers closed with four of the last five points with a kill by Yoder ending the set 25-14.
Set three was tightly contested with four lead changes and 13 total ties. A kill from Hoover capped a three-point run to give LBC an early lead, but the Highlanders dropped a block to take the lead back at 10-9. After several two-point swings and tie scores, the Chargers launched a 7-1 run to turn the tide with kills by Yoder and Flanagan and a block from Flanagan and Hoover. Forney finished off the set and the match with back-to-back kills to end it 25-21 and secure the first conference win of the season for the Chargers.

- The Chargers led in every statistical category, dominating in kills 39-17 and outblocking the Highlanders 7-5

The Chargers have now won 11 straight matches against the Highlanders and have swept Cairn five times in a row. Lancaster Bible continues their streak of consecutive conference wins as they have now won 13 straight regular season contests in CSAC/United East play.
