The Lancaster Bible College Women's Tennis team split their first two matches of the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, S.C. The Chargers lost a tight 4-3 match to Mary Baldwin on Monday but followed it with a convincing 6-1 win versus Buena Vista on Tuesday. The Chargers are now 2-3 on the season.
Match One, 4-3 Loss to Mary Baldwin
The Chargers picked up three wins in singles play.
Jania Weist won at the two-slot 6-3, 6-0.
Natalie Hoover picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win at the three-slot and teammate
Susannah Clawser won in the four-slot 6-3, 6-1.
Weist and Clawser were the lone pair to get a win in doubles play 6-2.
Match Two, 6-1 Win over Buena Vista
The Chargers were able to get five of the six singles competitions and two of the three doubles play Tuesday morning.
Sierra Hartmann led the Chargers at the one-slot with a 7-6, 7-4 victory. Weist picked up another win with a 11-9 third set. Clawser,
Becky Dimov, and
Lizzie Dimov all picked up decisive singles victories as well.
In doubles play, Weist and Clawser again picked up the lone win 6-0.
