Chargers Held Scoreless in Williamsport

The Lancaster Bible field hockey team traveled to Williamsport, Pa to take on Lycoming in a non-conference matchup. The Warriors would control the game scoring six unanswered goals. The Chargers would fall to 2-4 as the Warriors would improve to 5-2.

How it Happened:
Charger's defense was put to the test early, as the Warriors earned a penalty corner 26 seconds into the game. Nothing would come of it, as the shot was blocked. Two minutes later goalkeeper Amanda Hoover would earn her first save of the night. The pressure would continue to build against the Chargers as they faced three more shots and six more corners, but the defense stood strong, ending the period 0-0.

The second period saw no let up by Lycoming. Amanda Hoover would earn a save at the 16:16 mark of the game, followed up by a penalty corner a minute later. After five more minutes of pressure by Lycoming, the first goal would find the back of the net. From there, it would continue to open as they would score two more before the period would end, entering half 3-0.

A Chargers penalty corner within the first minute would put the team on the offensive to start the half. It was not long before the Warriors would counter with their fourth goal of the game at the 32:00 mark. The Chargers would not back down as Gabby Dunlap would force a Warriors save, recording the only shot of the game by the Chargers. The Warriors would find one more goal before the end of the period going into the fourth up 5-0.

The final period would see Lycoming continuing to push the offense, forcing a save by Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Amanda Huey. A series of penalty corners would eventually result in the final goal of the game.

By the Numbers:
Chargers were out shot by the Warriors 1-23 including 1-15 in shots on goal. Warriors would force 15 penalty corners compared to the Charges one. Chargers would record nine saves to the Warriors one. Warrior's goal scorers were Carmen Hannon, Laurel Fite, Lacy Eckard, Autumn Shahan, Katie Loughran, and Tayah Bauer.
