Chargers Win Homecoming in 5-0 Route

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team hosted their Homecoming match against Wilson on Saturday afternoon, dominating in a 5-0 victory with four second-half goals as they claimed their United East opening win. The Chargers improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in conference while the Phoenix fall to 2-5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.
 
How it Happened:
The Chargers drew a corner kick two minutes into the game but couldn't get a shot off, but in the ninth minute the scoring kicked off as junior Isabella Eufemia scored from the left side of the box through the legs of the Wilson goalie for a 1-0 Charger lead. Senior Janae Bergey had several shots in the first half but none for a score and freshman Kady Felpel had a pair of shots late in the half with one being saved, bringing the first half to a close as the Chargers led by one.
 
Bergey had a pair of shots early in the second half and the Chargers had a corner, then sophomore Zoe Beers got free took a nice shot for a goal to put LBC up 2-0 in the second half. Beers continued to pressure on offense with three more shots, with sophomore Allie Zuber forcing a save as well with a shot on goal. The floodgates opened in the 74th minute as Bergey got free and punched in a score off an assist from graduate student Jade Weir, extending the lead to three. Less than two minutes later, senior Kayleigh Rhine got in the box and found Bergey again, cashing in on another goal for the Chargers. Finally, the 79th minute saw another Bergey score, this time on a pass from senior Leah Perreault as Janae netted another hat-trick on her third score and helped the Chargers notch their first United East victory under head coach Seth Lehman with a 5-0 win.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers held Wilson without a single shot while firing 21 of their own with 14 on goal
- Janae Bergey notched her fourth career hat-trick for the Chargers with three goals in the second half
- Isabella Eufemia and Zoe Beers each scored for LBC
- Jade Weir, Kayleigh Rhine, and Leah Perreault all registered assists
- Madison Ebersole made eight saves in goal for the Phoenix
 
Information to Know:
This was the Chargers' first matchup with Wilson since 2017 and they move to 12-1 all-time against the Phoenix. Lancaster Bible wins their first conference opener since 2023 and has won back-to-back games in shutouts at home. Janae Bergey currently leads all players in the United East with 11 goals and entered today's game tied for 12th in all of NCAA Division III in scoring. This is the third consecutive game that Bergey notched a hat-trick, becoming the first player in the Chargers' NCAA Division III history to achieve this feat.
