The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team played their final non-conference game of the regular season on Monday night as they hosted Albright, earning their fourth straight win in a 3-0 shutout. The Chargers improve to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the United East while the Lions fall to 0-8-2 overall.
How it Happened:
The Chargers exploded into the match at home as they flipped the field right away for their quickest goal of the season at 47-seconds in, with senior
Janae Bergey getting free on the left side of the box for a cross to sophomore
Allie Zuber, punching it in for a Chargers 1-0 lead less than a minute in. The Chargers earned a pair of corner kicks later in the half and sophomore
Zoe Beers and junior
Isabella Eufemia each had shots that were either blocked or saved. With just under 10 minutes left in the half, graduate student
Jade Weir helped flip the field with a long lead pass to Bergey, taking it into the box and launching in a score to get LBC a 2-0 lead. Just two minutes later, a loose ball in the box was taken by Bergey with her back turned, kicking it across her body to the top right corner of the goal for yet another goal off a pass from Eufemia, putting the Chargers up by three scores at halftime.
Eufemia and Bergey each had a shot early in the second half, but Albright turned up their pressure with four total corner kicks in the final period. While the second half played evenly between the Lions and Chargers with neither finding the scoreboard, the Chargers maintained the intensity with 10 total shots and played until the final buzzer as they wrapped up their fourth consecutive victory and final non-conference win.
