The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team took on Gallaudet on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C., falling by a score of 63-50 for their first United East loss of the season. The Chargers drop to 7-11 overall and 5-1 in the United East while the Bison improve to 2-11 and 1-4 in the United East.
How it Happened:
Gallaudet struck first in the game before
Rachel Nolt (Jr.) kicked off the LBC scoring with a layup, then the Bison took an 8-4 lead before
Isabella Eufemia (Jr.) hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one. Nolt hit a jumper at the four-minute mark to keep it a one-point game, then
Raven Hunter (Sr.) gave the Chargers their first lead of the game 13-12 on a layup. The Bison pulled back ahead to take a 16-14 lead into the second quarter.
It took almost three minutes for either team to score in the second quarter before the Bison ended the drought, then
Shania Stoltzfus (So.) knocked down a three to get the lead back to one. From there the Bison went on a 12-1 run to take a 14-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the half, but the Chargers had a final push to make as Eufemia hit another three and Nolt made a jumper.
Emily Wilson (Fr.) helped the Chargers pull within six at the half on a 3-pointer as they trailed 32-26 heading into halftime.
The Chargers pulled within four early in the third as Eufemia and Nolt scored for LBC, but Gallaudet maintained their edge throughout the period. Nolt had several buckets late in the quarter, but the Bison extended their lead as they led by nine heading into the final 10 minutes.
While the Bison scored several buckets early in the fourth quarter, Wilson kept the Chargers in it with two made threes to pull LBC within seven at 51-44. Nolt and Wilson had a few more points in the quarter, but the Bison kept adding to their lead down the stretch as they closed out the Chargers by 13 points at home and handed LBC their first conference loss of the season.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot 32-percent from the floor, 29-percent from 3-point range, and 33-percent from the free throw line
- The Bison shot 40-percent from the floor, went 0-5 from three, and 69-percent on free throws
