The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Buena Vista, Va. on Friday afternoon to take on #4-ranked Southern Virginia and Bridgewater (Va.) in a road tri-match, falling to SVU in straight sets and defeating Bridgewater (Va.) in straight sets. The Chargers move to 3-2 overall while the Knights improve to 5-0 overall and the Eagles drop to 1-4 overall.

How it Happened:
The teams alternated the first seven points before the Chargers got three in a row with a kill by
Braden Escover (Fr.), giving LBC an early 6-4 lead. The Knights later answered with three in a row to reclaim the lead, then won five out of six points with a
Jaiden Flanagan (Jr.) kill in between to lead by five points at 16-11. The Knights remained in control from there as the Chargers stayed close, ending set one 25-21 to take the 1-0 advantage.

The Knights got out to a 5-2 lead in set two before Flanagan and Escover had kills back-to-back to get within one. Southern Virginia then went on a four-point run to make it a five-point lead, then added another three later for a 17-10 edge. The Chargers put together three in a row in response with a few Knight errors, but that was all they would muster as SVU closed out the set 25-18 on LBC.

Timothy Fletcher (So.) and
Kevin Bryant (Jr.) began set three with a block, with the score staying even early in the set as the teams traded points with several kills by
Devin Galloway (Jr.). Southern Virginia then pulled away as they went on a 6-1 run as they opened up the set, with the Chargers not being able to chip away much as the Knights closed out the Chargers 25-19 in set three and earned the sweep at home.

How it Happened:
The Chargers led 3-1 early off a block by
Kevin Bryant and
Braden Escover, then pulled ahead by four at 9-5 after two kills by
Carson Hoover. The Chargers then got their lead up to 12-6 after some Eagles errors, holding that lead steady throughout the middle of the set on kills by Bryant, Escover, and
Jaiden Flanagan. Bridgewater (Va.) pulled within three late at 19-16 before the Chargers ended the set with six straight points, ending on a kill by Hoover as LBC closed out set one 25-16.

The Eagles had their last lead of set two at 2-1 before the Chargers rattled off seven in a row behind kills from Flanagan and a block by Bryant, giving LBC an 8-2 lead. Bridgewater (Va.) tried to chip away with three straight, but the Chargers responded with a run of five points with two assists and a block by
Timothy Fletcher, then kills by Flanagan and Fletcher put LBC up 17-8. The set ended with a Chargers win at 25-15 as
Isaac Deller (Fr.) recorded his first career kill.

The Chargers and Eagles exchanged the first 14 points of set three before Hoover got a kill to put LBC up two at 9-7. The set continued to stay very tight as the Eagles tied the set eight different times throughout the middle, while the Chargers'
Zion Valentine (Fr.) got his first career kill and Flanagan landed an ace as the score was tied 20-20. LBC then grabbed a two-point lead, then scored three of the final four points to pull away as Bryant landed the final kill 25-22 for the Chargers sweep.
