The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer concluded their regular season on Saturday afternoon with a home matchup against Wilson in United East play, capturing a 1-0 shutout victory. The Chargers improve to 8-8-1 overall and finish at 6-2 in the United East while the Phoenix end their season at 2-11-2 overall and 2-6 in the United East.
**Before the match, LBC Athletics took time to recognize the program's senior student-athletes for the 2026 season, including #00 Richie Lockard (Sr.), #1 Chris Jackson (Sr.), #4 Derek Rhine (Sr.), and #25 Gabe Madanat (Jr.).
How it Happened:
The Chargers drew a corner kick about six minutes in as
Joel Walker had a shot that was saved for some early pressure, then a minute later,
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) put a shot low to the middle that was also saved. The Chargers then had several off-target shots before drawing a corner, then the Phoenix had a shot on the other end that missed high. Later in the half, the Chargers drew another corner but had an offside call, then
Jacob Melleby (Fr.) had a shot in the final two minutes as the teams headed to the halftime break in a scoreless tie.
Wilson came out firing with a shot on goal in the opening minute of the second half, but
Richie Lockard (Sr.) made the save to keep them off the board. The Phoenix had another pair of corner kicks with a shot that missed right, then
Jeremy Lee (Fr.) had a shot on goal on the offensive end a few minutes later. With close to 30 minutes remaining,
Michael Straubel (Fr.) put a shot on goal in the middle for a save, then
Gabe Bormolini (Fr.) forced a save by the Phoenix keeper to draw a corner kick. Bormolini took the corner and found
Zach Coryell (Gr.) on the near side, firing a shot on the inside that went in for an electric go-ahead score for the Chargers in the 70th minute. The Chargers kept up the pressure after the goal as Straubel and
Jacob Garrett (Fr.) had shots on goal, then they made another pass at goal in the final three minutes as both Melleby and Walker had close attempts, but the deal was sealed for LBC as they won their second straight 1-0 match to clinch a home playoff match next weekend.
